Business jet flights on the rise

Business jet flights in the UK increased in the first half of this year, according to figures.

There were an average of 393.5 business aircraft flights a day in January-June 2011 - a 7% rise on the same period last year, business aircraft company Hawker Beechcraft (HBC) said.

The UK flights accounted for 22.18% of all business flights in the 27 EU countries, where the average rise in flights in the first half of this year was only 4.7%.

There are now more than 700 business aircraft based in the UK - around 15% of the European total. Only Germany, with 768, has more than the UK.

Of the countries reviewed, Poland had the biggest increase in the number of daily business flights, rising 15.5%. However, France had the largest number of daily business flights of on average 698.3 during the first six months of this year. Germany had the second highest number.
